I like car camping as much as the next guy, but to my mind the best camping is in places you can only get to on foot. Here’s a shot from my last camping trip.
And a favorite from a trip a few years ago (note same very small tent at lower left).

The first picture was an easy two-night trip: drove up to the North Cascades after work on a Friday and car camped, then drove to the end of a forest service road and backpacked up to an alpine lake for a night. The second was during a longer backpacking trip on the John Muir trail.
